課程概述 |
This course will introduce and study James Joyce’s two novels--_Dubliners_ and _A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man_--in detail. Special attention will be paid to Joyce’s narrative techniques and styles, in addition to the introduction of the necessary socio-historical context of his novels.
As we have to conduct our first three meetings on-line, anyone who feels interested in the course (but has not successfully signed up for it) please email the instructor and the TA to get the link of our first meeting.

課程目標 |
By studying and discussing Joyce’s short stories and novella in detail, the course aims to familiarize students with the Irish socio-political and modernist aesthetic contexts in which Joyce wrote. |

課程要求 |
Students are required to pre-review the texts as well as some background material, participate in weekly group discussions, rotate-give oral reports, complete assignments (including one final term paper of no less than 5 pages), and take the mid-term exam. |
